There are three main heating types for industrial retort sterilizers: Steam Type, Water Bath Type, Spray Water Type.
1. Steam Heating Type
This sterilization mode directly injects high-temperature steam into the retort chamber to realize rapid heating and sterilization by steam latent heat. It features fast temperature rise, energy saving and simple structure.
Suitable Products & Packaging: Perfect for rigid pressure-resistant packaging such as tin cans, aluminum cans. Typical applications: canned fruit, canned meat, eight-treasure porridge and metal canned beverages.
2. Water Bath Heating Type
The retort is filled with hot water, and the hot water circulates continuously while products are fully immersed in hot water for even sterilization. It owns the most uniform heat distribution, stable temperature and no cold spot inside the retort.
Suitable Products & Packaging: Ideal for flexible bags, glass bottles, plastic bottles and large tray packages. Typical applications: vacuum-packed meat products, bean products, pickles, ready-to-eat meals.
3. Spray Water Heating Type
Hot water is sprayed evenly through nozzles on the top and side of the retort to form a full coverage water curtain on the product surface. It saves water, heats and cools down quickly, with even heat distribution and little pressure on packaging.
Suitable Products & Packaging: Fit for flexible pouches, glass bottles, plastic containers and aluminum foil lunch boxes. Typical applications: snack food, sauces, desserts and ready-to-eat boxed meals.
