Differences in Working Principle Between Three Roll Crusher and Two Roll Crusher

Two Roll Crusher

It only has a pair of opposite rotating rollers, completing crushing in one single pass.

Materials are squeezed and crushed once through fixed roller gap, then discharged directly.

Only one-time extrusion process, simple structure, single crushing effect, limited crushing fineness adjustment range.

Three Roll Crusher

It is designed with vertical three rollers to form two crushing zones, realizing two-stage continuous crushing.

  1. Upper two rollers finish primary coarse crushing
  2. Materials fall down and enter the lower roller group for secondary fine crushing

It uses one shared middle roller to save space, with adjustable bottom roller gap.

Double extrusion process makes particle size finer and more uniform, and it is equipped with spring overload protection.

Core Principle Differences

  1. Crushing times

    Two roll: one-time crushing

    Three roll: two-stage successive crushing

  2. Roller layout & function

Two roll: only one group of working rollers

Three roll: upper group for coarse crushing, lower group for fine crushing

  3. Particle forming effect

Two roll: coarse finished granules, uneven size, more powder

Three roll: fine and even granules, low powder rate

  4. Material processing way

    Two roll: simple direct extrusion

Three roll: differential speed extrusion + secondary refined shaping

  5. Application principle orientation

Two roll: mainly for rough primary crushing

Three roll: dedicated for fine crushing and uniform granulation of feed raw materials
